COMING THIS SEPTEMBER
desperate brain is an illustrated, personal & refreshingly funny memoir about self-discovery, creativity, surviving adulthood in the 21st century, and trying to function when your brain doesn't.
every once in a while, you have to do a "thing". it can be a work thing. a creative thing. or even a "doing the dishes" thing. but then your brain decides to give up.
you know what to do. you know how to do it. you know when it's due. and, most importantly, you know the consequences of not doing it.
yet still, no matter how hard you try, you just can't convince yourself to get anything done. and then you end up spending more time worrying about "not doing the thing", than you would spend, well, "doing the thing".
sounds familiar?
then you might have a desperate brain.
good. because this isn't a course.
it's a book.
but it's not a self-help book.
it's ✨ different ✨
if i had a dollar for every self-help book i've read, obsessed with for two days, tried to build a new life around, and then put away forever while forgetting about everything i've learned, i'd have enough money to buy another self-help book.
so i've decided to subvert the genre and write one instead.
after gathering hundreds of pages of therapy notes, book summaries, bullet points, and excessive self-reflection, i needed to find a way to make sense out of all my learnings. and then i realised it could be useful for other people, too.
while most self-help books are actually about self-optimisation, self-improvement, and self-promotion (for the author), this one encourages you to laugh at your own demise, stop overthinking, and embrace the existential chaos in your life.
instead of hoping you'll stick to new habits and change your life forever™, this book firmy believes you're going to fail, over and over again. but instead of blaming yourself and going around in circles, you'll get to turn them into a spiral.
love bombing. gaslighting. breadcrumbing. these are all terrible things when done to another person. but might be surprisingly useful when done to yourself. this book will show you how to manipulate your brain into doing the things that matter.
of course I do! why should your ex-situationship or your narcissistic mother have all the fun? anyway, here's a list of things you'll find in this book:
just like my other books, desperate brain is the result of hundreds of hours of personal effort & over a decade of experience doing all sorts of creative work. here's what makes this book special:
🤯 a hands-on and refreshing approach to topics which often feel too theoretical, abstract, or boring.
💅 fully illustrated & designed by my very handy hands. and the fonts you're reading right now? that's my own handwriting.
🤖 written by a real human being with real human hands, not by a sloppy AI chatbot (low-key absurd that this has become a selling point)
🇪🇺 printed in austria with high-quality european paper that feels really nice when you touch it with your hands
🤚 one last bullet point mentioning hands would come in handy.
or the part where i should tell you a sob story about how i'm a struggling independent artist who needs pre-orders to make his projects come true.
but there's no point in guilt-tripping you. because my books are so incredibly unique that i *know* you're going to fall in love with them.
(i'm still incredibly thankful for your support though 🥰)
